Queen of Peace celebrated St. Patrick’s Day a little differently this year.
It was pizza and cookies, as opposed to corned beef and soda bread, but the spirit of the Irish was alive and well thanks to the delightful students of St. John’s University who joined us for the evening. These young adults brought an energy and vibrancy felt by everyone.
They immediately rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand with our craft project… an Irish wreath! Each Resident was given a bright green wreath to decorate with shamrocks, harps, leprechauns, rainbows and other joyful Irish symbols; a happy treasure to give to a loved one or hang on their own bedroom wall.
Traditional music played inspiring one student to perform a step-dance that wowed everyone!
Watching these two very different generations interact was the most fun of all and very illuminating too. Age really doesn’t matter once we realize how much we have in common at all stages of life. Kindness, respect, patience and love will always close any age gap.
May God continue to bless us all.
