Sr. Mary Monica’s 105th Birthday

By February 25, 2025March 17th, 2025No Comments

It was standing room only at Sister Mary Monica’s 105th birthday party!  The Little Sisters were joined by Residents and staff members to ring in this very special occasion.

Sister, being of Irish decent, was presented with a gorgeous deep green woolen blanket embroidered with a four-leaf clover.  There was music and cake and, as a truly special treat, a performance by the Donny Golden Irish Dance troop and boy were they terrific!

It’s staggering to consider the inventions that Sister Mary has witnessed first-hand during her lifetime such as television, refrigerators, electric shavers, along with medical breakthroughs like the polio vaccine and penicillin!  How amazing it must have seemed to her and yet, to us, it’s all so common!

More importantly, there are all the lives she has touched as a Little Sister of the Poor.  So many people cared for and comforted by this faith-filled woman dedicated to the Mission of St. Jeanne Jugan.  A remarkable life lived by a remarkable woman.

Happy Birthday and God Bless Sister Mary Monica.
