Association Jeanne Jugan

The Association Jeanne Jugan is a group of men and women, married and single, who choose to share in the life and mission of the Little Sisters “to serve Christ with joy and love in the elderly by following the example of humility and confidence left by Jeanne Jugan.”

Those interested in becoming Association members undergo a year of spiritual preparation. New members are then welcomed into the Association Jeanne Jugan by making a promise to imitate the example of St. Jeanne Jugan by serving Christ through the care of the elderly poor. This promise is renewed annually. They live out their promise through ongoing spiritual formation and by sharing in the ministry of the Little Sisters.

Auxiliary Committee

The Auxiliary Committee is a group of men and women who support the work of the Little Sisters at Queen of Peace Residence by assisting with fundraising events. There are many ways to be involved:

  • organize events – a behind the scenes job of assisting with event specific tasks prior to the event day. This may include assisting with collecting items to be used in the event auctions, preparing auction baskets, assembling welcome packages, or creating appropriate signs
  • volunteer at events – assist with various tasks to help make the event run smoothly. This may include running the Welcome/Registration table, selling items or raffle tickets
  • attend events with a group of family and/or friends

The Auxiliary hosts three annual events each year: the Garden Party which is held at Queen of Peace Residence in early September; GermanFest, held in mid-January which is held at Hempstead Country Club, and the Golf Outing, also held at Hempstead Country on the first Monday in May.

Membership is flexible. You may also choose to attend bimonthly meetings, attend sponsored fund-raising events as your time permits, or simply support the work of the Auxiliary by becoming a registered member. Active membership is a wonderful way to make new friends.

Volunteer Testimonials

The Auxiliary continues to grow. Having been a member since its inception, I am always in awe of the efforts, talents and support that the Auxiliary provides to The Little Sisters in their mission to care for the poor and frail elderly. There is great camaraderie among its members which consist of men and women. It is a wonderful opportunity to forge new friendships.

Mary

Watching the Sisters living out their vocation and working with caring staff who are an extension of their hospitality affirms that God is alive and well in our world. I needed this … to see it, experience it to restore the joy I have in the Lord in this weary world.

Peggy

One thing that stands out to me is the love and joy that is seen in each of the Little Sisters.

Jaclyn
