On September 19 the Little Sisters hosted their second annual Dinner with Sisters. Held at Queen of Peace Residence, 35 guests who participated in a Special Auction held at the golf outing this past May, enjoyed a light appetizer buffet, a delicious dinner (graciously prepared by Chef Peter of the Hempstead Golf & Country Club) and freshly baked cookies & pastries for dessert.
To everyone’s surprise, the Sisters entered the auditorium in true golf fashion – in a golf cart!– causing an eruption of applause and cheers. Mother Joseph Caroline began the evening with prayer followed by a brief welcome. She was then joined by all of the Sisters and together they performed three songs, two of which were specifically dedicated to our foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan.
Guests were then shown a video, beautifully narrated by Sr. Gabrielle, explaining the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor and the work they so lovingly do. You could hear a pin drop as the video played and, when finished, many could be seen wiping tears from their eyes. It was a wonderful evening full of gratitude and fellowship.
